Do you think that would be too incompatible as far as looks go? Also is the Marvin Infinity quote in line with what you would expect for that window? This is a picture of the front of the house as it currently looks. The larger round top is fairly prominent and visible. For me, the Sunrise Restorations is a fantastic window that is definitely as good as the Marvin Infinity. This would be my choice in a heartbeat given the almost double cost of the Marvin.
The inability of the window to be made in a round top is problematic. I would find another vinyl window manufacturer that uses a slim frame like the Restorations for the round top and see how close you can get the frame widths to match. Just had RBA over for 26 windows and quoted 50k. I'm looking at your site and have contacted some of the recommended vendors, but I did not see window world mentioned.
These prices seem quite high. Your opinions? Here's my thoughts: take an hour and see if you can find any of the following brands. We had renewal by andersen come out and give a quote and the lowest price I could get them to do was 22, They sell there installation well and say everything is warrantied for 20 years except hardware which is 10 years.
I just feel like I'm being taken maybe in more ways than just the price. Do you have any advice you could offer? I'm a bit confused as to what I should do. Should I go with renewal by andersen or can I get something better for cheaper?
Thanks so much! In my opinion, about twice as expensive as the quality of window they sell. Every company makes the windows custom for each opening. I definitely think you can find a window of equal quality for a lower price. I'm going to send you a list of quality windows and you can search for local companies that carry these brands. Tim - Site Editor - from Renewal Windows in Wisconsin Hi Dane, I ran across your site information and found it very interesting and felt it might be helpful to me.
Do you only deal with California window manufacturers or dealers and installers or customers? I live near Milwaukee, WI in a 26 year old house. It's time for window replacements, but I don't know which window manufacturer is good, better, best or which window installer to trust. I've gotten a few estimates, ranging from 64,Anderen to 26,Universal and Walsh.
I'm not looking to install the best or most expensive windows, but I am looking for a good product with fair pricing. Can you recommend a descent window and installer not necessarily a well known brand? Johnnie - Homeowner - from [Site Editor's Answer] Johnnie, there are some very good options for you in Wisconsin. Okna and Marvin will be available in your area for sure. Some of these brands will have dealers in your area. Do a quick google search for "sunrise windows in Milwaukee, WI" for example and see if any local companies come up who carry the brand.
Good luck! We have two bids. I'd get more bids to see if you can't get a lower price point for your project. Tim - Site Editor - from Renewal Quote vs. Slocomb Solstice I have a quote on 34 casements and one sliding door. I have two bids, but I'm wondering if I should just call up Pella, who originally installed my window. Renewal makes a nice window, but that's a lots to pay for 34 windows and a door. I wouldn't go back to Pella for vinyl windows, only for wood windows. I thought it was too much and now I want to consider going with a vinyl window.
Is this smart? Thank you in advance for your help. I personally think vinyl is an excellent way to go as long as you buy a quality vinyl window. Live western Suburb of Philadelphia. Need a few bedroom windows replaced.
Just want a descent window that is somewhat efficient will last five years. Got Renewal By Anderson quote that seems crazy to me. Check to see if any of these brands are available in your town by doing a search on google Sunrise windows in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for instance. A company who is in your area and does sell Sunrise windows should pull up on the first page.
You can go with their mid range series and you should be getting a very solid window. Dane - Site Editor - from Renewal by Anderson Cost Bid We're replacing 20 windows, where about half are funky and odd shapes so not an inexpensive project. They are often overpriced, but if that what the Marvin Infinity is being bid out at then the RBA may be call.
Dane - Site Editor - from Replacement by Anderson Quote Hi Dane, we have 42 windows that average around 36" x 60" with some quarter and half round shapes.
I was sort of shocked by how different the pricing was for the same project. Pella Series I have replace 50 windows, all different sizes. There are 40 windows in all. So far, we have received bids from two window companies.
The bids are so far apart that it is difficult to know which is fair. Any clarity would be most appreciated. The Renewal is very expensive, while the Alside quote is probably a lower quality than what you should be looking for.
The Mezzo is okay, but it uses a somewhat flimsy frame in my opinion and I don't feel like this is the sort of window that's going to last as well as better made products out there.
Although it is quite a good product with a good warranty, it's overpriced IMO. Dane - Site Editor - from RBA Cost Bid I have 4 estimates on 8 windows all 36 inch by 59 inch , 1 smaller bathroom window, and 1 bow window 3 windows mulled together.
They are very different from one another. This price quote is so much higher than what I've seen so I'm trying to reconcile this.
Steve - Homeowner - from To see more on this price quote, see our Renewal reviews page. I'm replacing 47 windows and a patio door. We had house built Had Renewal By Anderson come out quoted 31, We live in Nashville TN. I would like a good window but not with the price of Anderson. Can you help us.
Anderson told us vinyl isn't any good. Interestingly, their performance data can't hold a candle to the top tier vinyl windows on the market. When it comes to looks, vinyl can be a bit boring, but the top tier vinyl windows are more durable and energy efficient than the composite fibrex that the RBA is made of. Several of the top vinyl windows do come in interior laminates that equal the interior look of the RBA for half the cost.
Google "okna windows in nashville, Tn" -- insert company name to find others If you can't find three from the list above, check out our recommended list and see if any other brands are sold by local companies.
Collect your three bids and feel free to send them over and I can give my input on what you have. Dane - Site Editor - from Renewal Pricing vs Milgard Fiberglass Windows I received 4 quotes for fiberglass replacement windows for 2 windows approximately 60 x60 each.
They face the ocean side and the house was built in The quotes I received range widely. Third from renewal by Andersen Wow. Seems like the sales person knew what he was talking about when he looked at the windows when I noted that the old windows had a vertical frame casement windows that integrated into the house frame the surrounding frame will not be replaced since integral with walls [ laster lathe walls.
Said it would be covered and not show the notch where the vertical piece would be taken out but he forgot about the top of the window that is the same. All windows are for sliding fiberglass windows and are Milgard with the exception of the RBA that is the composite material. I wanted the best window glass rated rate sun and heat protection since this is a south west window and these old houses do not have any insulation.
I have had bad experiences with contractors before even when I thought I had good specifications, etc. In other words I need help given the vastly different quotes. I do want something that will be problem free and am willing to pay a fair price for a good product.
Are the RBA so much better? I read on your site that the Marvin fiberglass seems good. I really need some help since the yelp reviews on these companies seem OK. Thank you very much for your help.
Joyce- Homeowner - from [Site Editor's Answer] Joyce, in terms of the windows themselves, Milgard makes a good fiberglass window. RBA makes a good window as well, but they are almost always quite a bit higher and not worth the price they charge. The big issue with your project seems to be the additional work involved, i.
When you remove the siding, you could use either a new construction window which includes a nailing fin or flange around the top and side or a replacement window. The new construction route might be the way to go as it provides a good fit and better protection from water. Here's my problem If you are price conscious, RBA isn't the way to go, you are paying for the advertising and marketing etc. I think you need to find an installer either one of the ones you have or a new one who has a good reputation for solid and thorough work.
But you definitely want to make sure that you go with someone who isn't going to throw in the windows and gloss over any of the frame work that may need to be done.
I think you need to find someone with a track record you can trust, either by using someone who firends and family has used or someone with some verifiable reviews. Marvin fiberglass windows are also quite good, probably a step up from the Milgard. Their Infinity is the preferable to their Integrity model. I bought 10 DH windows and 2 picture windows complete tear out along with new trim and sills on the interior.
Renewal by Andersen is worth the money when you consider the quality of the windows and their warranty. You have heard about Renewal by Andersen and wonder if the price tag is worth the money. First, let us look at Andersen Incorporated and explore what they offer. Andersen offers multiple brands, including:. Andersen Windows. Window and product line offered at many home improvement stores and online. An interesting fact about Andersen Windows: during WWII, the company reduced metals and fabricated wooden ammunition boxes.
You may have noticed that Andersen windows carry a higher price tag than comparable brands like Pella and Jeld-Wen. Andersen has been working with architects since , designing doors and windows for modern homes and commercial buildings. Due to the strength of wood injected in Fibrex, the material is very durable and can resist rot, peel, heat, and other invasive factors. Fibrex is also twice as strong as vinyl, is climate resistant, and blocks thermal transfer to reduce high heating and cooling bills Andersen, This is great news for those who live in coastal or high-altitude areas.
However, if your home is more susceptible to storm damage from natural acts such as hurricanes, tornados, and other disasters, the warranty will not cover these types of damages. Andersen offers coastal impact windows and doors. These products are made with Stormwatch Protection while meeting code in these areas.
Renewal by Andersen, backed by a lengthy warranty, features a year coverage for glass and Fibrex material, years on materials other than glass, and 2 years on the installation and locks, hinges, and other involved hardware.

It is always ideal to do business with a company that backs products and services.
Each product line offers detailed warranty information. According to the Renewal by Andersen website, their windows and products can last over years. Then within an hour, what the supervisor ended up telling Rich was that he had sharpened his pencil as much as he possibly could, that the only other solution was that the person would take a lesser commission on the sale and he agreed to absorb whatever that incremental difference was between our budget and what Renewal could do.
I felt very comfortable and confident that the quote Renewal gave me was a good deal for the both of us. Even though he spent that much time, I didn't feel bad that Rich had to take it out of his own pocket because he spent the time anyhow.
If we did the deal, he would get something and if we didn't do the deal or half the deal, he'd get half anyhow. We had replacement windows, top of the line, the best that they could do. We had two windows that have screens on that slide back and forth that we put into a wall that didn't have windows before. We had 13 replacement windows and these two windows on one location that we had.
Then on the second location, we had three sliding glass doors put in, a foot, a foot, and an eight-foot, and then we had a kitchen window replaced that opens out. The cost was expensive. But you get what you pay for. But these things are gorgeous and efficient.
They're perfect. There's nothing that I would change about them. If you want quality and if you want the best, there's nobody who does it better than Renewal by Andersen.
The customer service, the workers, the people who did the installation are extraordinarily competent. I was here while they were putting in the wall and they measured two and three times. Everything was precise and they didn't cut corners. Hi Sandra, Thank you so much for leaving us your feedback, we are delighted to hear how happy you are with your new windows and doors!
It was our pleasure working with you on this project, thank you for choosing Renewal! We had Renewal by Andersen install our bay window several years ago and we were so impressed. We picked them because at that time, they were the cheapest on the market that I could find.
The bay window was a big project and I appreciated what they did and how they did it. Then I had them back a couple years later to do two more windows. I also had them back last fall to do the rest of the house. The installers were fantastic. They were very neat and they were laying down pads to protect the carpeting.
They were efficient in that they came across an exterior window that had actually had some rotting going on the frame. They went off and got the right kind of lumber and they brought it back and installed it.
They knew what had to be done. They could have just told me to do it and I certainly would have, but they took the initiative and they did a good job. The consultant was courteous.
He wore a mask and was careful in touching things. The communication was very clear. He had a computer right there and he showed me exactly what I would be paying with the scenarios that I gave him. He very patiently walked me through all of that. At the end of the interaction, I determined that the cheapest way to go was to finish putting in the rest of the windows.
My windows are so beautiful! They're easy to open. One of the biggest thrills I had after they were installed was in the bathroom. I can now open that window after I get out of the shower and I can get all the steam out of the bathroom just like that. Renewal by Andersen was efficient, polite, and goes above and beyond the call of what they agreed to do. The communication was incredible during the whole installation process with the installers.
The gentleman that came out to measure the windows actually came back and did a re-measure on a questionable window and I was very impressed with his meticulous approach to measuring the window to make sure it was would fit precisely. Overall, the experience was wonderful. Hi Arlene! We want to thank you so much for your continued loyalty to Renewal, it has been a pleasure working with you on all of your projects.
Our team is happy to hear you are enjoying your new windows, especially that bathroom! Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions in the future. We looked at a couple other competing companies out there. We did the regular consumer walkthrough at Home Depot to check what was out there and based on what we saw on feedback from the internet, it seemed that Renewal by Andersen had the most accessible rate in terms of installation.
The other big factor was if there were issues though, the positive responses to how those repairs were handled by them were overwhelmingly positive. We bought slider windows and they gave us an estimation for the timeline. It was just that there was a hiccup on our end. I could do whatever I want.
That may help to push things along in that sense. Why does it need a month and a half for our place to find out whether or not I can handle the inside?
But then from the sales to the guy that came in and did the measurements, they were fantastic, no pressure, and very honest about what the sales were and what the cost savings were.
Originally, we talked about having a whole house done. Good luck. Excellent job. I had an easy experience. Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback with us, we really appreciate it. It was a pleasure working on this project with you and we are glad to hear you had a nice experience. We will pass your note about HOA's along to our team.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to us with any future questions or concerns. Very disappointed in our Renewal by Andersen experience. Their installation was messy and unprofessional. Right off the bat, the windows did not latch properly. The first service call reported the windows were not aligned, however when they sent a 'more knowledgeable' repairman for the second service call, he said they were fine.
Perhaps this foreshadowed the issues I now have this winter. Extreme frost buildup on all my second-story double-hung windows. The third service call attempted to caulk and seal the windows. This did not fix the problem. The fourth service call resulted in them telling me this issue was due to the high efficiency of the windows. The frost build-up was normal.
Work orders and 'bulletins' from corporate to the repairmen are apparently 'confidential'. I am not allowed to have any paperwork documenting the work they did on the product I paid an insane amount of money for. So after trying to fix the issue, they now say it is normal, even though second, third, and fourth opinions tell me otherwise. So now I have windows, less efficient than the original ones I replaced. The company has washed their hands of me. We replaced 12 windows and the installation was real good.
The two men who did it were very professional. They knew what they were doing and got it done. Also, I like the new windows a lot. I feel like I've got a new pair of glasses. From ordering the new windows to the installation, everything has gone well.
Great communication from all areas. The installer took the time to explain what he would be doing and was extremely neat and cleaned up when finished.
A great experience from start to finish.
